Finally the day came when we could decide our
morning schedule for ourselves… What to do? We always
wanted to see the town from above so we asked some local students
to guide us to a place where this was possible. We had to
meet at 9 a.m. but it was the weekend. Everybody woke up later
than usual and we left the camp at 9:30. We wanted to arrive
“there” (we didn’t know exactly where) as
soon as possible so Bogdan (one of our guides) took us on
some strange shortcuts through the city.
We arrived at the bottom of the hill in an hour. This is
where the hard part started and we were already exhausted
because of the hot weather. From this point we continued climbing
all the time. Fortunately we arrived at a cold spring
and relaxed a little. There were some places where we had
to crawl and move from tree to tree to get forward, but it
was fun and the view was great (we were walking on a high
cliff). Finally we arrived in an open space (The Virgin Rock)
where we could see far in the distance. It was wonderful.
The city was shining brightly in the sun. People and cars
looked like dots on a texture of streets and buildings. We
took some pictures on the edge of the cliff and decided to
return home.
The return was easier because we just had to descend. We
learned how to surf on the steep paths. They were covered
with leaves and there was no other way to move but letting
yourself sweep. We were very tired so Bogdan invited us at
his house for a soft drink (6 Trandafirilor Street). Then
we went home for lunch and finally rested…
